舉雲巖問道吾。大悲菩薩。用許多手眼作麼。吾云。如人夜中背手模枕子。巖云我會也。吾云。汝作麼生會。巖云。遍身是手眼。吾云。道即大殺道。只道得八成。巖云。師兄作麼生。吾云。通身是手眼。頌曰。

Yunyan asked Daowu: "What does the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion do with so many hands and eyes?" / Daowu said: "Like someone reaching back with a hand in the night to grope for a pillow." / Yunyan said: "I understand." / Daowu said: "How do you understand?" / Yunyan said: "The entire body is hands and eyes." / Daowu said: "You have said a great deal, but you have only said eighty percent." / Yunyan said: "What about you, Elder Brother?" / Daowu said: "The through-and-through body is hands and eyes." / The verse says:
