夜壑藏舟。澄源著棹。龍魚未知水為命。折筯不妨聊一攪。
玄沙師。小塘老。函蓋箭鋒。探竿影草。
潛縮也老龜巢蓮。遊戲也華鱗弄藻。

Hiding the boat in the nighttime ravine;
Setting the oars in the clear source.
Dragons and fish do not yet know water is their life;
Breaking a chopstick, it does no harm to stir it a bit.
Master Xuansha, Elder Xiaotang:
Cover fitting the box, arrowheads meeting;
The probing pole and the shadow-grass.
When retracted and hidden, the old turtle nests in the lotus;
When playfully sporting, the shimmering fish frolics in the duckweed.
