Linji's total dynamic is exalted in style; / The head of his staff has eyes to discern the finest autumn down. / Sweeping away foxes and hares, his family tradition is severe; / Transforming fish into dragons, thunder and lightning blaze. / The life-giving sword, the killing blade— / Leaning against the sky, reflecting the snow, sharp enough to sever a blown hair. / Equally executing the decree, the flavor is distinct: / Who is it that receives the brunt of the greatest pain?
