四月八日上堂。清徹性空水。圓明淨智身。箇中不洗體。直下了無塵。有成佛有降神。有彼岸有迷津。哆哆和和此其始。膠膠綴綴此其因。底時節釋迦文。惡水驀頭澆莫嗔。何須念彼觀音力。自然還著於本人。諸仁者只如抦杓在爾手裏時。合作麼生。不因一事。不長一智。

Ascending the hall on the eighth day of the fourth month: "The water of nature-emptiness is clear and thorough; the body of pure wisdom is round and bright. Therein, do not bathe the body; right then and there, totally free of dust. There is attaining buddhahood and there is descending of the spirit; there is the other shore and there is the deluded ford. Babbling and prattling, this is its beginning; clinging and attaching, this is its cause. At this very time, Śākyamuni, do not resent foul water poured right over your head. Why need one recite the power of that Avalokiteśvara? Naturally, it returns to the person himself. Good people, just when the ladle handle is in your hand, what should you do? Without experiencing a single affair, one does not grow in a single wisdom."
