4.24

上堂云。隔牆見角。定知是牛。隔山見煙。定知是火。且道。諸人定知有底作麼生。還體悉得麼。報曉音聲捿鳥語。漏春消息早梅香。

Ascending the hall, the Master said: "Seeing horns across a wall, you definitely know it is an ox; seeing smoke across a mountain, you definitely know it is fire. But tell me: what is that which you all definitely know is there? Can you realize and understand it? / Announcing the dawn, the roosting birds' chatter; / leaking news of spring, the early plum blossom's fragrance."
