4.29

舉真歇和尚入室。上堂云。十萬里携衣鉢而至。欲傳持默默無言。四千里賣布單而來。不奈何呵呵大笑。鋤草瞞他良遂。掩門推出韶陽。有底據正令而承當。有底謝旁提而瞥地。京口再參舡子。方知師友恩深。臨濟重見大愚。始信老婆心切。古既如是。今亦當然下座大眾同往。請真歇和尚為眾入室。

Citing Master Zhenxie entering the abbot's room, [the Master] ascended the hall and said: "Carrying robe and bowl over a hundred thousand leagues, he arrived, wishing to transmit and maintain in silence without a word. Selling his cotton sheet over four thousand leagues, he came, unable to do anything but laugh heartily. Hoeing weeds deceived Liangsui; shutting the gate pushed out Shaoyang. Some take it upon themselves relying on the correct command; some have a flash of insight thanks to a lateral hint. At Jingkou, re-interviewing Chuanzi, only then did he know how deep the kindness of teacher and friend is. At Linji, seeing Dayu again, only then did he believe how earnest the grandmotherly heart is. The past was thus, and the present is also like this." Stepping down from the seat, the great assembly went together to invite Master Zhenxie to enter the room for the assembly.
