4.33

請維那藏主知客侍者。上堂云。砧槌未鳴。諸佛居何國土。機輪未轉。一乘不屬名言。賓主混融。居士何須更揖。家風妥貼。國師不必三呼。能如是也。內絕功勳。外無稜角。還體悉得麼。吼月泥牛能入海。嘶風木馬解游春。

Requesting the karmadāna, the canon keeper, the guest prefect, and the attendant, [the Master] ascended the hall and said: "Before the mallet and anvil sound, in what land do the Buddhas abide? Before the mechanism's wheel turns, the One Vehicle does not pertain to names and words. When guest and host blend and fuse, why must the layman bow again? When the family style is harmonious and settled, the National Teacher need not call three times. If one can be like this, internally merit and achievement are cut off, and externally there are no sharp edges. Can you understand it thoroughly? / Roaring at the moon, the mud ox can enter the sea; / neighing in the wind, the wooden horse knows how to roam in spring."
