4.68

上堂云。心萠時失。口應則差。直饒具大神通。得大受用。要且未與那人合。且道。不上機境底是甚麼人。良久云。語默不到處。古今無盡時。

Ascending the hall, he said: "When the mind sprouts, there is loss; when the mouth responds, there is error. Even if you possess great spiritual powers and attain great enjoyment, after all you have not yet united with that person. Tell me: who is the person who does not engage with dynamic potential and realms?" After a long pause, he said: "Where speech and silence do not reach, there is no end throughout past and present."
