青天白日大年朝。習習柔風在柳條。
珍重敦禪歸去也。上船渡口看回潮。
明了了寂寥寥。萬劫千生一念超。坐斷十方無向背。
底時方見獨孤標。其或未然。伏惟尚嚮。

Blue sky, bright sun, New Year’s Day morning; / a gentle breeze whispers in the willow boughs. / Take care, Chan practitioner Dun, as you return! / Board the boat at the ferry and watch the returning tide. / Bright and distinct, quiet and solitary; / in a single thought surpassing ten thousand kalpas and a thousand births. / Sitting cross-legged, cutting off the ten directions without front or back: / at what moment will you see your solitary, lofty peak? / If it be not yet so, we bow and offer our respect.
