8.39

米坊能者較些些。七百僧中獨作家。半夜傳來衣有據。
機前收得鏡無瑕。祖師只麼閑舂碓。
若子如今莫撒沙。古井先秋念枯冷。金繩釣出玉蝦蟇。

The capable one in the rice mill was slightly distinct; / Among seven hundred monks, he alone made a household. / Transmitted at midnight, the robe has proof; / Collected before the dynamic, the mirror has no flaw. / The Patriarch merely husked grain idly at the pestle; / A person like you nowadays must not scatter sand. / In the ancient well before autumn, thoughts are withered and cold; / A golden cord fishes out a jade toad.
