佛佛要機祖祖機要。不觸事而知。不對緣而照。
不觸事而知。其知自微不對緣而照。其照自妙。
其知自微。曾無分別之思。其照自妙。曾無毫忽之兆。
曾無分別之思。其知無偶而奇。
曾無毫忽之兆。其照無取而了。水清徹底兮。
魚行遲遲。空闊莫涯兮。鳥飛杳杳。

The essential pivot of buddhas, the pivotal essence of patriarchs: / Knowing without touching things; shining without confronting conditions. / Knowing without touching things, its knowing is naturally subtle; / Shining without confronting conditions, its shining is naturally wondrous. / Its knowing being naturally subtle, it has never had thoughts of discrimination; / Its shining being naturally wondrous, it has never had signs of an iota. / Having never had thoughts of discrimination, its knowing is without pair and singular; / Having never had signs of an iota, its shining is without grasp and complete. / The water is clear to the bottom; / Fish swim slowly. / Space is vast without boundary; / Birds fly far out of sight.
