9.31

問者不親。傳者不真。默成之性。空照而神。湛存而無像。
幽靈而絕隣。赫鑪冶而鑄其器。吹風烟而造其春。
建立諸幻。發明至淳。匠手之揮斤刃利。
蠅泥之去鼻端塵。其斵有信。其受難人。
偃蹇之松兮。獨扶疎於雪試。𦤞卼之石兮。
幾破碎於雷瞋。

The inquirer is not intimate; / The transmitter is not genuine. / The nature silently completed / Illuminates emptiness with spiritual potency. / Placidly abiding without form, / Mysteriously wondrous, beyond compare. / Heating the furnace to cast its vessel, / Blowing wind and mist to make its spring. / Establishing all illusions, / Disclosing utmost purity. / The master's hand swings the axe with a sharp blade, / Removing the dust on the tip of the nose like mud from a fly. / His hewing is trustworthy, / But receiving it is difficult for a person. / The towering pine / Stands luxuriant alone through the test of snow; / The tottering boulder / Has nearly been shattered by the wrath of thunder.
