9.41

水秋而清。月寒而明。萬機休罷。三際齊平。塵消却到法身住。
幻起還從佛口生。長天之覆。
大地之擎。諸祖與之同道。眾彙與之同行。龜毛拂而握竪。
兔角杖而膝橫。更無一物借來底。
招手憨僧作證成。

The water in autumn is clear; / The moon in winter is bright. / The myriad mechanisms have ceased; / The three times are equal and even. / With dust cleared away, one returns to dwell in the Dharmakāya; / With illusions arising, one emerges from the Buddha's mouth. / Covered by the vast sky, / Sustained by the great earth. / All the patriarchs share his Way; / The myriad beings walk with him. / A fly-whisk of turtle hair held upright; / A staff of rabbit horns resting horizontally across his knees. / Without a single thing borrowed from elsewhere, / He beckons the simpleton monk to serve as witness.
