an imperial decree conferred the posthumous title 'Chan Master Hongzhi', and his stūpa was named Miaoguang. Lord Zhou Kui, Participant in Determining Governmental Matters, composed an inscription for it. As for the Master's traces of responding to the world that appear in the stūpa inscription, they are not repeated here. Alas, these are merely the Master's deeds that can take shape in words! As for his wondrous functioning in every direction, leaving no trace or footprint, entirely transcending what came before the kalpa of emptiness, thoroughly penetrating beyond Bhīṣmagarjitasvararāja, which cannot be deliberated or conceived—that is not something that words can record.
