[Hongzhi] ascended the hall: "Exceeding speech and thought, it is constantly wondrous—sitting upon the tongue. Shedding the physical shell, it is uniquely spiritual—taking hold of the nostrils. Therefore it is said: 'Before the kalpa of emptiness and Bhīṣmagarjitasvararāja, there is another world within a vase. Watching the hunt from the royal tower—this is not mowing a field of thatch.' Right at such a time, the wondrous does not involve conditions; reflections do not enter the world. Tell me: amidst this, by means of what kind of person can it be distinguished? Do you understand? Wearing the midnight moon on one's head, / Treading upon the golden ground with one's feet."
