Ascending the hall, [the Master] said: "Yunmen was calm and settled in body and mind, naturally knowing how to follow the waves and pursue the billows. Linji had versatile methods, able to test with shadowy grass and sounding poles. But tell me, under the gate of Tiantong, what should be done? Dig the pond without waiting for the moon; when the pond is finished, the moon comes of itself."
