Spacious and empty, pure and serene; cold, plain, and purely genuine. When the accumulated habits of many lifetimes are cleared away in this manner, and the defilements of past habits are exhausted, original light appears before you, illuminating and shattering the skull, admitting no other thing. Vast and expansive, like sky and water merging in autumn, like snow and moon sharing the same color. This field has no boundaries and transcends spatial locations; vast as a single sheet, it has neither seam nor joint. You must further shed everything inward to attain it. At the very moment of shedding everything, thought and speech are a thousand, ten thousand leagues away; there is not even any principle to discern, so how could there still be any place to point out? Only a fellow whose bucket bottom has fallen out can thoroughly believe in this. Therefore it is said: 'Only realization is in accord.' Right where there is accord, one can stir and turn, enter the world, and playfully roam in samādhi, appearing distinctly before you. Sounds and forms, shadows and echoes, are directly traceless. That and this do not come and go, solely because within it there is no place to receive. This very absence of a place of reception encompasses empty space, the Dharma realm, and the dense array of myriad phenomena, without leaving out a single bit. A fellow of genuine color should investigate and realize in this way.
