Our family's single plot of land is clear and vast, lustrous and bright, distinctly illuminating itself. Empty, it has no conditions yet is numinous; quiescent, it has no thoughts yet is aware. It is the original place where buddhas and patriarchs appear and disappear, transform and manifest, are born and enter nirvāṇa. Wondrous indeed! Everyone possesses it, yet they are unable to polish it bright and clean; muddled and unaware, they let delusion cover wisdom and thus drift on. If in a single thought one illuminates and penetrates it, one transcends kalpas of dust. The brightness is pure and white: the three periods of time cannot transform it, and the four marks cannot alter it. Luminescent alone, serenely enduring, it bridges ancient and modern, unifying sameness and difference, serving as the mother of all creation and transformation. When the dynamic trigger is released from this place, the great thousand worlds simultaneously appear—all are merely shadowy phenomena within this. Truly realize and embody it!
