Whom does the painted likeness resemble? / On a rope-bottom chair in dark hemp robe. / Silently roaming as an indistinct presence, / Departing and approaching in vague semblance. / Dongshan's brocade reveals its seam; / Yunyan's silk comes off the loom. / Function forgotten and wonder exhausted, observe the news: / Across wild waters polished by autumn, white birds fly.
