退院上堂。瑞岩一隻破木靴。幾箇攙來盡要拕。唯有老僧能踢脫。出門赤脚笑呵呵。

Ascending the hall on retiring from the monastery, [the Master said]: "A single broken wooden boot of Ruiyan: / Several people scramble forward, all wanting to drag it along. / Only this old monk can kick it off; / Walking out the gate barefoot, laughing ha-ha!"
