1.20

師至法座前。拈帖。筆頭禿盡一毫通。至治寥寥。靜極中舉帖云。看點起風雲傳號令。雷霆潑墨振綱宗。莫有共相證據底麼。切忌側耳。

The master went before the Dharma seat. Taking up the letter of appointment, [he said,] "The tip of the brush is worn down completely, yet a single hair penetrates through. Utmost governance is vast and silent, in the utmost stillness." Raising the letter, he said, "Look! Stoking wind and clouds, issuing commands; thunder and lightning splash ink, shaking the essential principle of the school. Is there anyone who will bear witness together? Be sure not to tilt your ear!"
