垂示云。隔山見煙。早知是火。隔牆見角。便知是牛。舉一明三。目機銖兩。是衲僧家尋常茶飯。至於截斷眾流。東湧西沒。逆順縱橫。與奪自在。正當恁麼時。且道。是什麼人行履處。看取雪竇葛藤。

The pointer says: Seeing smoke beyond the mountain, one already knows there is fire; seeing horns beyond the wall, one immediately knows there is an ox. Deducing three from one, discerning the dynamic function down to the grain: this is the everyday tea and meal of patch-robed monks. As for cutting off the myriad streams, surging in the east and sinking in the west, moving with or against, perpendicular or horizontal, giving and taking with complete freedom—at just such a time, tell me: whose realm of practice is this? Look at Xuedou's entangling vines.
