垂示云。聲前一句。千聖不傳。面前一絲。長時無間。淨裸裸赤灑灑。露地白牛。眼卓朔耳卓朔。金毛獅子。則且置。且道。作麼生是露地白牛。

The pointer says: The one phrase before sound is not transmitted by a thousand sages. The single thread before one's face is uninterrupted throughout all time. Stark naked and clean, the white ox on the open ground; eyes wide open, ears wide open, the golden-haired lion—these may be set aside for now. But tell me: what is the white ox on the open ground?
