6.25

垂示云。諸佛不曾出世。亦無一法與人。祖師不曾西來。未甞以心傳授。自是時人不了。向外馳求。殊不知自己脚跟下。一段大事因緣。千聖亦摸索不著。只如今見不見聞不聞。說不說知不知。從什麼處得來。若未能洞達。且向葛藤窟裏會取。試舉看。

The pointer says: The Buddhas have never appeared in the world, nor have they given a single dharma to people. The ancestral masters never came from the West, nor have they ever transmitted anything with the mind. It is simply that worldly people fail to comprehend and chase outside seeking. Little do they know that beneath their own heels, there is a piece of the Great Matter of Cause and Condition that a thousand sages cannot grope for. Right now, seeing or not seeing, hearing or not hearing, speaking or not speaking, knowing or not knowing—from what place does it come? If you are not yet able to penetrate thoroughly, for now comprehend it within the den of entangling vines. Consider the following:
