【五二】舉。僧問趙州。久響趙州石橋。到來只見略彴（也有人來捋虎鬚。也是衲僧本分事）州云。汝只見略彴。且不見石橋（慣得其便。這老漢賣身去也）僧云。如何是石橋（上釣來也。果然）州云。渡驢渡馬（一網打就。直得盡大地人無出氣處。一死更不再活）彴（實若切）。

[52] Case: A monk asked Zhaozhou, 'For a long time I have heard of the stone bridge of Zhaozhou, but having arrived here, I only see a single-log bridge.' / Zhou said, 'You only see the single-log bridge, and do not see the stone bridge.' / The monk said, 'What is the stone bridge?' / Zhou said, 'It ferries donkeys, it ferries horses.' / (Lüe: pronounced like shi-ruo).
