機輪曾未轉（在這裏。果然不動一絲毫）轉必兩頭走（不落有必落無。不東則西。左眼半斤右眼八兩）
明鏡忽臨臺（還見釋迦老子麼。一撥便轉破也破也。敗也敗也）
當下分妍醜（盡大地是箇解脫門。好與三十棒。還見釋迦老子麼）妍醜分兮迷雲開（放一線道。許爾有箇轉身處。爭奈只是箇外道）
慈門何處生塵埃（遍界不曾藏。退後退後。達磨來也）
因思良馬窺鞭影（我有拄杖子。不消爾與我。且道什麼處是鞭影處。什麼處是良馬處）
千里追風喚得回（騎佛殿出三門去也。轉身即錯。放過即不可。便打）
喚得回鳴指三下（前不搆村。後不迭店。拗折拄杖子。向什麼處去。雪竇雷聲甚大。雨點全無）

"The dynamic wheel has never yet turned; (It is right here. Truly it does not stir by a single hair.) / When it turns, it must run to both extremes. (If not falling into existence, it must fall into non-existence. If not east, then west. The left eye half a pound, the right eye eight ounces.) / Suddenly a bright mirror comes before the stand; (Do you still see old Śākyamuni? With a single nudge it immediately turns. Smashed! Smashed! Defeated! Defeated!) / Right on the spot beauty and ugliness are distinguished. (The entire great earth is a gate of liberation. Well deserved thirty blows of the staff! Do you still see old Śākyamuni?) / Beauty and ugliness distinguished, the clouds of delusion clear; (Leaving an open path, conceding that you have a way to turn yourself around. What can be done? He is merely a non-Buddhist.) / Where could the gate of compassion produce any dust? (Pervading the realm, it was never hidden. Step back! Step back! Bodhidharma has arrived.) / Recalling the fine horse catching sight of the whip's shadow, (I have a staff; no need for you to give me one. And tell me, what place is the whip's shadow? What place is the fine horse?) / Chasing the wind for a thousand leagues, it is called back. (Riding the Buddha hall out through the triple gate! To turn oneself around is already an error; to let it pass by is impermissible. [He] then struck.) / Having called it back, he snaps his fingers thrice." (Ahead, one does not reach the village; behind, one does not arrive at the inn. Snapping the staff in two—where will you go? Xuedou's thunder is extremely loud, but of rain drops there are none at all.)
