8.12

藏頭白海頭黑（半合半開。一手擡一手搦。金聲玉振）明眼衲僧會不得（更行脚三十年。終是被人穿却爾鼻孔。山僧故是口似匾檐）
馬駒踏殺天下人（叢林中也須是這老漢始得。放出這老漢）
臨濟未是白拈賊（癩兒牽伴。直饒好手。也被人捉了也）
離四句絕百非（道什麼。也須是自點檢看。阿爺似阿爹）
天上人間唯我知（用我作什麼。奪却拄杖子。或若無人無我無得無失。將什麼知）

Zang's head is white; Hai's head is black: (Half closed and half open. One hand lifts, one hand presses down. The sounding of gold and the vibrating of jade.)
Clear-eyed patch-robed monks cannot understand. (Even if you go on itinerant pilgrimage for thirty more years, in the end someone will pierce your nostrils. This mountain monk's mouth is indeed like a flat carrying pole!)
The colt trampled down everyone under heaven; (In the chan grove, one must indeed have this old fellow! Release this old fellow.)
Linji is still not a daylight robber! (A mangy fellow dragging companions along. Even if he were a master hand, he has been captured by someone.)
Apart from the four propositions, detached from the hundred negations: (What does he say? You must inspect it yourself. Dad is like father.)
In the heavens and among humans, only I know. (What use is 'I'? Snatching away the staff! Or if there is no person and no self, no gain and no loss, what will you use to know?)
