呼即易（天下人總疑著。臭肉引來蠅。天下衲僧總不知落處）遣即難（不妨勦絕。海上明公秀）
互換機鋒子細看（一出一入。二俱作家。一條拄杖兩人扶。且道在阿誰邊）
劫石固來猶可壞（袖裏金鎚如何辨取。千聖不傳）滄溟深處立須乾（向什麼處安排。棒頭有眼。獨許他親得）
烏臼老烏臼老（可惜許。這老漢不識好惡）
幾何般（也是箇無端漢。百千萬重）與他杓柄太無端（已在言前。洎合打破蔡州。好與三十棒。且道過在什麼處）

Summoning is easy; / (The people of the world all doubt it. Smelly meat attracts flies. The patch-robed monks of the world totally do not know where it lands.)
Dismissing is hard. / (Exceedingly sharp and decisive; excellent and eminent on the sea.)
Examine closely the dynamic sharpness of reciprocal interchange: / (One exiting and one entering; both are craftsmen. One staff supported by two people. Tell me, on whose side is it?)
Though the kalpa-stone is solid, it can still be destroyed; / (How will you discern the golden mallet in the sleeve? The thousand sages do not transmit it.)
The deep place of the vast ocean instantly goes dry. / (Where will you arrange it? The staff's head has eyes; he alone is granted to attain it intimately.)
Old Wujiu! Old Wujiu! / (What a pity! This old fellow does not know good from bad.)
How manifold are his manners! / (He too is an unprovoked fellow; hundreds, thousands, myriads of layers.)
Giving him the ladle handle was too unprovoked! / (Already before words. Almost breaking through Caizhou. He deserves thirty blows of the staff. Tell me: where is his fault?)
