【七二】舉。百丈又問雲巖。併却咽喉唇吻。作麼生道（蝦䗫窟裏出來。道什麼）巖云。和尚有也未（粘皮著骨。拕泥帶水。前不搆村後不迭店）丈云。喪我兒孫（灼然有此答得半前落後）。

[72] Case: Baizhang also asked Yunyan, "Leaving aside throat, lips, and mouth, how will you speak?" (He comes out of a toad's cave. What does he say?)
Yunyan said, "Does the Venerable have it or not?" (Sticking to skin and clinging to bone. Dragging through mud and water. Having not reached the village ahead, nor overtaken the inn behind.)
Baizhang said, "I have lost my descendants." (Clearly there is such a thing; his answer misses both front and rear.)
