【八三】舉。雲門示眾云。古佛與露柱相交。是第幾機（三千里外沒交涉。七花八裂）自代云（東家人死。西家人助哀。一合相不可得）南山起雲（乾坤莫覩。刀斫不入）北山下雨（點滴不施。半河南半河北）。

Case: Yunmen instructed the assembly, saying: "The ancient Buddha and the exposed pillar intersect—which dynamic is this?" (Three thousand miles away, no connection. Shattered into seven flowers and eight splits.) He spoke on their behalf, saying: (When someone dies in the eastern family, the western family joins the mourning. A single complete whole cannot be attained.) "Clouds arise on the southern mountain; (Heaven and earth cannot see. A knife cannot cut in.) / Rain falls on the northern mountain." (Not a drop shed. Half south of the river, half north of the river.)
