9.38

盲聾瘖啞（已在言前。三竅俱明。已做一段了也）杳絕機宜（向什麼處摸索。還做計較得麼。有什麼交涉）
天上天下（正理自由。我也恁麼）堪笑堪悲（笑箇什麼。悲箇什麼。半明半暗）
離婁不辨正色（瞎漢。巧匠不留蹤。端的瞎）
師曠豈識玄絲（聾漢。大功不立賞。端的聾）爭如獨坐虛窓下（須是恁麼始得。莫向鬼窟裏作活計。一時打破漆桶）
葉落花開自有時（即今什麼時節。切不得作無事會。今日也從朝至暮。明日也從朝至暮）。

Blind, deaf, and mute—(Already before words. The three apertures are completely clear. It has already made a single phase.) / Utterly cut off from dynamic occasions. (In what place will you grope? Can you still make calculations? What connection is there?)
Above heaven and below heaven—(True principle is self-existent. I am also like this.) / Worthy of laughter, worthy of sorrow. (Laughing at what? Grieving at what? Half bright, half dark.)
Li Lou does not distinguish the true color; (A blind fellow. The master artisan leaves no trace. Truly blind.)
How could Shi Kuang recognize the mystic string? (A deaf fellow. Great merit receives no reward. Truly deaf.) / How does that compare to sitting alone beneath the vacant window, (You must be like this before you attain it. Do not make a living in a ghost cave. Shatter the lacquer bucket at once.)
Where fallen leaves and opening flowers have their own seasons? (Right now, what season is it? You must never take it as having nothing to do. Today also from dawn till dusk; tomorrow also from dawn till dusk.)
