一片虛凝絕謂情（擬心即差動念即隔。佛眼也覰不見）人天從此見空生（須菩提好與三十棒。用這老漢作什麼。設使須菩提也倒退三千里）
蚌含玄兔深深意（也須是當人始得。有什麼意。何須更用深深意）
曾與禪家作戰爭（干戈已息天下太平。還會麼。打云。闍黎喫得多少）

A stretch of empty clarity, cutting off words and emotions— / (The moment mind stirs there is error; the moment thought moves there is separation. Even the Buddha's eye cannot catch sight of it.)
From this, humans and devas see Subhūti. / (Subhūti deserves thirty blows of the staff. What use is this old fellow? Even if it were Subhūti, he too would fall back three thousand li.)
The clam holds the dark rabbit—a deep, deep intent, / (One must be the right person for it. What intent is there? What need is there to speak of a deep, deep intent?)
Which once stirred up warfare for the Chan family. / (Shields and spears are already stilled; under heaven there is great peace. Do you understand yet? Striking, he said: How much can the ācārya take?)
