舉。法眼問脩山主。毫厘有差天地懸隔。汝作麼生會（誰敢動著）脩云。毫厘有差天地懸隔（閗百草有甚麼難）眼云。恁麼又爭得（鐵山橫在路）脩云。某甲只如此。和尚又如何（捩轉鼻頭）眼云。毫厘有差天地懸隔（將謂別有）脩便禮拜（將錯就錯）。

Case: Fayan asked Hermitage Master Xiu, '"A hair's breadth of difference is as the distance between heaven and earth." How do you understand this?' (Who dares touch it?)
Xiu said, '"A hair's breadth of difference is as the distance between heaven and earth."' (What is hard about competing with a hundred grasses?)
Fayan said, 'How can it be gotten like that?' (An iron mountain lies across the road.)
Xiu said, 'I am just like this; what about the Venerable?' (Twisting around the nostrils.)
Fayan said, '"A hair's breadth of difference is as the distance between heaven and earth."' (Thinking there must be something else.)
Xiu then bowed. (Going along with the mistake.)
