舉。仰山問僧。甚處人（閉門刷會）僧云。幽州人（公驗明白）山云。汝思彼中麼（恰待忘了）僧云。常思（熟處難忘）山云。能思是心。所思是境（元來更立能所）彼中山河大地。樓臺殿閣。人畜等物。反思思底心。還有許多般麼（仁者自生分別）僧云。某甲到這裏總不見有（猶有這箇）山云。信位即是。人位未是（庭前殘雪日輪消。室內紅塵遣誰掃）僧云。和尚莫別有指示否（便恁麼來）山云。別有別無。即不中（射透兩重關）據汝見處。只得一玄（已有舡中月）得坐披衣向後自看（更添帆上風）。

Case: Yangshan asked a monk, "Where are you from?" (Shutting the gate and making a count.) The monk said, "From Youzhou." (The official passport is clear.) Yangshan said, "Do you think of that place?" (Just about to forget it.) The monk said, "I always think of it." (Familiar places are hard to forget.) Yangshan said, "That which can think is the mind; that which is thought of is the environment. (Originally establishing subject and object again.) In that place there are mountains, rivers, the great earth, towers, pavilions, palaces, halls, people, livestock, and other things. Reflecting back on the mind that thinks: are there so many kinds of things in it?" (The benevolent one gives rise to distinctions on his own.) The monk said, "When I arrive here, I do not see any of them existing at all." (There is still this one.) Yangshan said, "The stage of faith is correct; the stage of personhood is not yet." (The residual snow before the courtyard melts under the disk of the sun; who can be dispatched to sweep the red dust inside the room?) The monk said, "Does the Venerable have any other instruction?" (Coming right along like this.) Yangshan said, "To say there is another or there is no other would miss the mark. (Shooting through a double barrier.) According to your view, you have only obtained one mystery. (Already having the moon in the boat.) Take your seat, put on your robe, and see for yourself later." (Adding more wind to the sail.)
