舉。僧問趙州。如何是祖師西來意（多羅閑管）州云。庭前柏樹子（焦塼打著連底凍）。

Case: A monk asked Zhaozhou, "What is the meaning of the Ancestral Teacher's coming from the West?" (Bothering with idle business.) / Zhou said, "The cypress tree in front of the courtyard." (Striking a scorched brick, frozen through to the very bottom.)
