藤枯樹倒問溈山（行到水窮處坐看雲起時）大笑呵呵豈等閑（險作相弄會）
笑裏有刀窺得破（將謂別有）言思無路絕機關（四千里地賺我來）

The wisteria withers and the tree falls—he questions Guishan; (Having walked to where the water ends, one sits and watches when the clouds arise.) / The loud 'ha-ha' of laughter, how could it be casual? (Perilously taken as making fun.) / The dagger concealed within the laughter was seen through; (Thinking there must be something else!) / Words and thoughts have no path, the clever mechanisms cut off. (Tricked me into coming four thousand leagues!)
