6.55

師云。肇公寶藏論離微體妙品。其出微其入離。知入離。外塵無所依。知出微。內心無所為。內心無所為。諸見不能移。外塵無所依。萬有不能羈。天童頌南泉照徹離微造化根。紛紛出入見其門。見出微入離二門。只一門分其內外。其實十方無壁落。四面亦無門。游神劫外問何有。天地同根也。著眼身前。知妙存。萬物一體也。根之與體。能生天地萬物。如龍吟霧起。虎嘯風生。有感必應。所以庭前一株花。遍見普天春花。萬松說箇夢。先有不睡底人。次有睡。因睡不覺有夢。因夢見境。因境見別有一身境中分別受用。若識得常不睡底。人許多葛藤一筆句下。要知補處慈尊麼。此時若不究根源。直待當來問彌勒。

The Master said: In Master Sengzhao’s Treasure Store Treatise, the chapter on “Subtleness and Manifestation, Essence and Marvel” says: “Its coming forth is subtle; its entering is manifest. Knowing that entering is manifest, external dust has nothing to rely upon. Knowing that coming forth is subtle, the internal mind has nothing to do. When the internal mind has nothing to do, various views cannot sway it. When external dust has nothing to rely upon, the myriad existences cannot bind it.” Tiantong’s verse says that Nanquan illuminated through subtleness and manifestation, the root of creation; in bustling emergence and entry he saw their gate. Seeing the two gates of coming forth into subtleness and entering into manifestation, it is only one gate that divides the inner and outer. In truth, throughout the ten directions there are no walls, nor are there gates on the four sides. “His spirit roams beyond the kalpas, asking what exists” is “heaven and earth share the same root”. “Fixing his eye before his body, he knows the marvel remains” is “the myriad things are of one body”. The root and the body are able to generate heaven, earth, and the myriad things, just as when a dragon chants, mist arises, and when a tiger roars, wind is born—where there is a stimulus, there is always a response. Therefore, in the one stalk of flower before the courtyard, one completely sees the spring flowers across the entire world. Wansong will tell a dream: first there is the person who does not sleep, then comes sleep; due to sleep, without realizing it there are dreams; due to dreams, objects of experience are seen; due to objects, another body is seen within the objects, discriminating and experiencing them. If you recognize the person who constantly does not sleep, all these entangling vines are cancelled out with a single stroke of the brush.
