無門曰。雲門可謂。家貧難辨素食。事忙不及草書。動便將屎橛來。撑門拄戶。佛法興衰可見。

Wumen said: "Yunmen may be said to have a house so poor he cannot prepare vegetarian food, and business so pressing he cannot write in cursive. Whenever he acts, he brings out a shit-stick to prop up the gates and bar the doors. The rise and fall of the Buddha Dharma can be seen here."
