無門曰。若能直下領略得去。著佛衣喫佛飯。說佛話行佛行。即是佛也。然雖如是。大梅引多少人。錯認定盤星。爭知道說箇佛字三日漱口。若是箇漢。見說即心是佛。掩耳便走。

Wumen said: "If you can comprehend this directly, wearing Buddha's clothes, eating Buddha's food, speaking Buddha's words, and practicing Buddha's conduct—that is the Buddha. Although this is so, Damei led so many people to mistake the fixed mark on the steelyard! How could they know that if one utters the word 'Buddha', one must rinse one's mouth for three days? If he were a fellow [of true mettle], hearing it said that mind itself is Buddha, he would cover his ears and run away."
