The sūtra says: 'Stop, stop, no need to speak! My Dharma is wondrous and hard to conceive.' Anwan says: 'Where does the Dharma come from? Where does the wondrous arise? When spoken, what is it like? Not only was Fenggan loose-tongued, but Śākya was originally talkative. This old fellow conjured up bizarre monsters, making his descendants for thousands of generations get tangled up and fall, unable to poke their heads out. Like this extraordinary topic of conversation, it cannot be picked up with a spoon, nor steamed cooked in a cauldron. How many have mistakenly recognized it?' A bystander asked, 'Ultimately, how do you bring it to a conclusion?' Anwan clasped his ten fingernails and said, 'Stop, stop, no need to speak! My Dharma is wondrous and hard to conceive.' Then, quickly over the two words 'hard to conceive', he drew a small circle and pointed it out to everyone: 'The five thousand scrolls of the Great Canon and Vimalakīrti's gate of non-duality are all inside here.'
