問如何是吹毛劍。陵云。珊瑚枝枝撐著月。問祖意教意是同是別。陵云。雞寒上機。鴨寒下水（雲門聞此語云。他日老僧忌辰。只舉此三轉語。供養老僧足矣）。

He asked, "What is the hair-severing sword?"
Baling said, "Branch after branch of coral propping up the moon."
He asked, "Are the ancestral intention and the doctrinal intention the same or different?"
Baling said, "When chickens are cold, they perch on the loom; when ducks are cold, they plunge into the water."
(When Yunmen heard these words, he said, "In the future on my memorial day, merely citing these three turning phrases will be ample offering to this old monk.")
