明安云。體妙失宗者。滯在語路句失宗旨。機昧終始者。謂當機暗昧。只在語中宗旨不圓。句句中須是有語中無語。無語中有語。始得妙旨密圓也。

Ming'an said: 'The essence is subtle, but the ancestral principle is lost' refers to being obstructed in the path of words, so the phrase loses the ancestral principle. 'The dynamic activity is blind to beginning and end' means being dim and blind when facing the dynamic moment, staying only within words so the ancestral principle is not rounded. In every phrase, there must be wordlessness within words and words within wordlessness; only then is the subtle principle intimately rounded.
