寂音曰。道愈陵遲。至於列位之名件。亦訛亂不次。如正中偏偏中正又正中來偏中至。然後以兼中到總成五位。今乃易偏中至為兼中至。不曉其何義耶。而老師大衲。亦恬然不知怪。為可笑也（文字禪題雲居弘覺語）。

Jiyin said: "As the Way has increasingly declined, even the designations of the ranks have become erroneously scrambled and out of order. For example, 'the partial within the upright', 'the upright within the partial', and further 'arriving from within the upright', 'arrival within the partial', and then concluding with 'attainment within integration' to make up the Five Ranks in total. Nowadays, people substitute 'arrival within the partial' with 'arrival within integration'—I do not know what they take it to mean! Yet old masters and veteran monks calmly take no notice of the anomaly; it is truly laughable." (From a colophon in Wenzi chan on the sayings of Yunju Hongjue.)
