師諱靈祐。福州長溪趙氏子。得法於百丈海和尚。初至大溈木食㵎飲。十餘年始得仰山慧寂禪師。相與振興其道。故諸方共稱曰溈仰宗。

The master's posthumous name was Lingyou. He was a son of the Zhao clan of Changxi in Fuzhou. He attained the Dharma under Master Baizhang Hai. When he first arrived at Mount Dagui, he ate tree fruit and drank from the stream. After more than ten years, he finally obtained Chan Master Huiji of Yangshan. Together they revitalized their way; hence the various regions together called it the Guiyang lineage.
