句到意不到。古㵎寒泉湧。青松帶露寒。意到句不到。石長無根草。山藏不動雲。意句俱到。天共白雲曉。水和明月流。意句俱不到。青天無片雲。綠水風波起。

"The phrase arrives but the meaning does not arrive:
From the ancient ravine, cold springwater surges;
The green pine is cold with dew.
The meaning arrives but the phrase does not arrive:
On rocks grows rootless grass;
In the mountains hide motionless clouds.
Both meaning and phrase arrive:
Heaven dawn-lit alongside white clouds;
Water flowing together with the bright moon.
Neither meaning nor phrase arrives:
In the blue sky, not a single cloud;
On green water, wind and waves arise."
