大師言：「十弟子！以後傳法，遞相教授一卷《壇經》，不失本宗。不稟受《壇經》，非我宗旨。如今得了，遞代流行。得遇《壇經》者，如見吾親授。十僧得教授已，寫為《壇經》，遞代流行，得者必當見性。」

The Master said, "You ten disciples! In future transmissions of the Dharma, hand down to one another this one fascicle of the Platform Sūtra, and you will not lose our original tradition. Those who do not receive the Platform Sūtra do not belong to our lineage. Now that you have obtained it, circulate it from generation to generation. Those who encounter the Platform Sūtra are as though seeing me in person conferring it." After the ten monks received this instruction, they wrote it down as the Platform Sūtra and circulated it from generation to generation; those who obtain it will surely see their nature.
