"All scriptures and written words, the two vehicles—Small and Great—and the twelve divisions of scriptures, were all instituted on account of human beings; because of the nature of wisdom, they could thus be established. If there were no worldly people, the myriad phenomena would fundamentally not exist. Therefore know that the myriad phenomena originally arise from human beings, and all scriptures are spoken into existence because of human beings. Because among human beings there are the foolish and the wise, the foolish are the small and the wise are the great. When deluded people ask the wise, the wise explain the Dharma for the foolish, causing the foolish to awaken, understand, and open their minds. If deluded people awaken, understand, and open their minds, they are no different from people of great wisdom. Therefore know that without awakening, the Buddha is a sentient being; if with one thought one awakens, then a sentient being is the Buddha. Therefore know that all myriad phenomena are entirely within one's own mind; why not from your own mind suddenly see the original nature of tathatā? The Brahma Net Bodhisattva Precepts Sūtra says: 'The original source of the own-nature is pure.' Recognizing the mind and seeing the nature, one naturally accomplishes the Buddha path. The Vimalakīrti Sūtra says: 'Instantly, with open clarity, one recovers the original mind.'
