If you wish to achieve the knowledge of all modes, you must attain the samādhi of one mark and the ekavyūha-samādhi. If in all places you do not abide in marks, and within those marks you give rise to neither hatred nor love, have neither grasping nor rejecting, and do not think of gain, loss, success, or ruin, remaining leisurely, serene, hollow, harmonious, clear, and quiet, this is called the samādhi of one mark. If in all places, whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, you maintain a pure, direct mind, an unmoving bodhimaṇḍa, and truly realize the Pure Land, this is called the ekavyūha-samādhi. If a person possesses these two samādhis, it is like the earth having seeds, which are harbored, nourished, and brought to maturity. The samādhi of one mark and the ekavyūha-samādhi are also like this. My current preaching of the Dharma is like timely rain, everywhere moistening the great earth. Your buddha-nature is like seeds: encountering this pervasive soaking, all will sprout. Those who receive my teaching will certainly attain bodhi; those who practice according to me will surely realize the marvelous fruit. Listen to my gāthā:
