師說偈已，告曰：「汝等好住。吾滅度後，莫作世情悲泣雨淚，受人弔問、身著孝服，非吾弟子，亦非正法。但識自本心，見自本性，無動無靜，無生無滅，無去無來，無是無非，無住無往。恐汝等心迷，不會吾意，今再囑汝，令汝見性。吾滅度後，依此修行，如吾在日；若違吾教，縱吾在世，亦無有益。」復說偈曰：

After speaking the verse, the Master told them: "Dwell well, all of you. After my passing, do not follow worldly sentiments, weeping and shedding tears like rain, accepting condolences, or wearing mourning garments. Such are not my disciples, nor is it the true Dharma. Merely recognize your own original mind and see your own original nature: neither motion nor stillness, neither arising nor ceasing, neither coming nor going, neither right nor wrong, neither abiding nor departing. Fearing that your minds might be deluded and not comprehend my intention, I now urge you again so that you may see into your nature. After my passing, if you practice according to this, it will be as if I were still alive; if you go against my teaching, even if I were in the world, there would be no benefit." He then spoke another verse:
