The Master said: "Great assembly! For people of the world, one's own physical body is a city; the eyes, ears, nose, and tongue are the gates. Externally there are five gates, and internally there is the mind gate. The mind is the ground, and the nature is the king. The king resides on the ground of the mind. When the nature is present, the king is present; when the nature departs, the king is no more. When the nature is present, body and mind exist; when the nature departs, the body is destroyed. The Buddha is made within one's nature; do not seek outside the body. Delusion in svabhāva is a sentient being; awakening to svabhāva is a Buddha. Compassion is Avalokiteśvara; joy and equanimity are Mahāsthāmaprāpta; the ability to purify is Śākyamuni; what is level and straightforward is Amitābha. Others and self are Mount Sumeru; craving and desire are the sea water; the afflictions are the waves; poison and harm are evil dragons; falsity is ghosts and spirits; the toil of defilements is fish and turtles. Greed and anger are hell; foolishness is animals. Good friends! Constantly practice the ten virtues, and the heavenly realm will arrive. Eliminate self and others, and Mount Sumeru collapses; cast off craving and desire, and the sea water dries up; when afflictions are gone, the waves cease; when poison and harm are eliminated, fish and dragons are extinguished. The awakening nature on the ground of one's own mind, the Tathāgata, emits a great light. Externally illuminating the six gates into purity, it can break through the heavens of the six desires. When svabhāva shines inward, the three poisons are eliminated; sins of hell and the like are dissolved in an instant. Internally and externally clear and luminous, it is no different from the West. Without this cultivation, how can you reach there?"
